Abstract:
This storage device 101 comprises a shingled magnetic recording device 103, a management unit 108, a selection unit 106, and an execution unit 107. The shingled magnetic recording device 103 uses a band that includes adjacent track groups that partially overlap as the write unit. The management unit 108 manages management information 115, 116 in which band identification information for a band, characteristic information that indicates the possibility that data stored on a band will no longer be referenced, and data identification information for data when the data is stored on a band are associated with each other. When a request to store data is made to the shingled magnetic recording device 103, the selection unit 106 selects, on the basis of the data and characteristic information, a band on which the shingled magnetic recording device 103 is to store the data. The execution unit 107 stores the data on the selected band.
