Abstract:
Program recording is possible where, even if a storage medium lacks the free space to record a program scheduled for recording, a user is notified to such effect and recorded content is not automatically deleted without the user's confirmation. When program recording is set using a storage device (19), programming instructions are input using a remote control (1) and an input signal is transmitted to an input unit (2). The input unit (2) transmits the input instructions to a control unit (3). The control unit (3) calculates the necessary space for the recording, calculates the free space of an HDD (7) and a storage medium (18) inserted into a removable media drive (17), performs comparison using a comparison unit (8), and determines whether there is sufficient space for the scheduled recording. If it is determined that there is free space for recording, the instructions are sent to a program unit (4) When there is no free space for program-recording, the user is notified to such effect.
