A storage management method and apparatus of a streaming media system, and the streaming media system. The method comprises: determining a target disk to be formatted (S101); computing the size of large block areas according to a storage space of the target disk (S102); setting large storage block attributes for the large block areas according to block file attributes of a streaming media file in the streaming media system (S103); and formatting the target disk (S104). In this method, a part of the storage space of the disk is divided into large block areas comprising large storage blocks and the attributes of these large storage blocks are set according to the attributes of block files in the streaming media file, so that the large storage blocks are consistent with the block files in the attribute aspect and on this basis, the disk is formatted. In this manner, the storage space occupied by metadata of a streaming media file can be reduced when the streaming media file is stored later.
