Abstract:
Disclosed is a technique that, when a storage region with a non-power-of-two size is obtained from a storage region with a power-of-two size, or when a storage region with a power-of-two size is obtained from a storage region with a non-power-of-two size, is capable of managing the remaining storage regions, and that effectively utilizes the storage regions. For a storage region management method for a storage device, the obtained storage regions are separated into storage regions with different powers-of-two sizes, and are respectively managed. In addition, when an allocation request that contains an allocation request size is received from a storage region, an empty storage region that contains the allocation request size and whose size is the smallest power-of-two is obtained, the binary equivalent of the allocation request size is obtained, and continuous storage regions that comprise storage regions with power-of-two sizes for each bit position where bit 1 is set in said binary equivalent are allocated to the allocation request that has been received.
