Abstract:
According to the present invention, each stripe of a plurality of stripes in a RAID group uses two or more data storage devices and one or more parity storage devices, from among a plurality of storage devices. A storage controller receives one or more write requests for one or more sets of new user data, performs a data duplication process on each of the one or more sets of new user data, and returns one or more responses corresponding to the one or more write requests to a host system after the duplication process. The storage controller transmits, to each of the one or more parity storage devices, a parity generation command for a write destination stripe, which is a stripe associated with the one or more sets of new user data. Upon receiving the parity generation command, each parity storage device generates a new parity in response to the parity generation command using new user data required to generate the new parity, if the parity storage device stores the required new user data.
