Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a storage system and a data backup method that enable a battery device to be miniaturized. [Solution] A storage system connected to a host computer is provided with a storage device, a first controller that controls data transfer between the storage device and the host computer, a second controller that is connected to the first controller and controls data transfer between the storage device and host computer, non-volatile memory, and a battery device. The first controller is provided with first volatile memory, and the second controller is provided with second volatile memory. If a power source is interrupted: the battery device begins supplying power to the first controller and the second controller; and the second controller copies data that is stored in the first volatile memory to the second volatile memory, and once copying has been completed, the second controller stops the operation of the first controller and stops the supply of power from the battery device to the first controller, and then copies the data stored in the second volatile memory to the non-volatile memory.
