Abstract:
[Problem] To reallocate redundant data to an optimum memory hierarchy, and maintain I/O performance after the occurrence of a storage failure and after restoration from the failure. [Solution] Provided is a storage system characterized in that a first memory unit and a second memory unit are configured from multiple kinds of memory units differing in performance, and each memory area provided by each of the multiple kinds of memory units are managed as multiple kinds of memory hierarchies differing from each other. The storage system is further characterized in that when a host device switches a secondary volume provided by a second storage device to a primary volume on which a data read and write is performed, and then performs a data read and write, the second storage device reallocates data to the multiple kinds of memory hierarchies of the second memory unit on the basis of the counts of data reads and writes to the first memory unit from before the switching to the primary volume.
