Title:
STORAGE SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING STORAGE SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2015/186165
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
In a storage system, a scheme is used in which, during a power failure, the data stored in a volatile memory is saved to a nonvolatile memory so as not to lose the data in the volatile memory. In prior art, when the power is restored, all of the data saved to the nonvolatile memory is read out and written into the volatile memory. Then, operation as the storage system is resumed, and an access request from the host is accepted. Because this prior art requires that all of the data saved to the nonvolatile memory be read out, a period of time is needed before the acceptance of access requests is resumed, and availability is impaired. In order to overcome this problem, in the present invention, a cache directory and cache data are saved to the nonvolatile memory during a power failure, and, when the power is restored, the cache directory is copied from the nonvolatile memory into the volatile memory, the storage destination for the data which, as indicated by the cache directory, had the volatile memory as the storage destination before being saved is changed to the nonvolatile memory, and a host I/O process is initiated.
