Abstract:
This storage system includes both a redundancy group which comprises a plurality of storage drives that store host data and redundant data in a distributed manner, and a controller which controls access to the redundancy group, wherein the controller: selects, from among the plurality of storage drives of the redundancy group, a number of storage drives that does not exceed the redundancy of the redundancy group, and sets the selected storage drives into a power saving mode; receives, from a host, a read request to read from a target storage drive included in the redundancy group; and, if the target storage drive is in a power saving state, recovers the data requested by the read request, from data collected from storage drives of the redundancy group other than the target storage drive, and returns the recovered data to the host.
