Abstract:

Provided are a straddled vehicle engine unit and a straddled vehicle in which misfire of an internal combustion engine mounted to the straddled vehicle can be detected with high accuracy. This straddled vehicle engine unit is provided with an internal combustion engine having a crankshaft, a crank angle signal outputter, and a misfire detection device. The misfire detection device has a misfire determiner and a crankshaft rotation speed variation physical quantity acquirer that acquires a physical quantity related to a variation quantity of a crankshaft rotation speed. On the basis of a difference between a first preceding physical quantity acquired at a first preceding timing corresponding to a previous specific stroke and a second preceding physical quantity acquired at a second preceding timing earlier than the first preceding timing, the misfire determiner detects a decrease of the crankshaft rotation speed at the first preceding timing, and the misfire determiner determines that misfire has occurred when it is detected that the decrease of the rotation speed at an acquisition timing has finished, on the basis of a difference between a crankshaft rotation speed variation physical quantity and the first preceding physical quantity.
