Abstract:

On the basis of the κ=1 movement trajectory (Mc) of a tooth of the external gear of a strain wave gearing device with respect to a tooth of the internal gear in the main cross-section taken at the center of the tooth trace of the external gear obtained when the teeth meshing of the external gear with the internal gear is approximated by rack meshing, the tooth profile of the addendum of the internal gear is given by equations a and the tooth profile (34C1) of the addendum of the external gear is given by equations b. Since overlapping of bending stress that occurs due to bending and tensile stress due to load torque at the two ends of the major axis of the elliptical external gear can be avoided and the positions at which the two stresses occur can be essentially completely separated, the transmission torque capacity of the strain wave gearing device is increased.
