Abstract:
A strength testing method for a very large crude carrier. The very large crude carrier comprises an after peak, a forepeak, and several compartments located between the after peak and the forepeak, and the several compartments are arranged in sequence in the length direction and the width direction of the very large crude carrier; the method comprises: partially loading the after peak or the fore peak with fresh water, and loading ballast water in the several compartments alternately in sequence from boards at both sides to the center in the width direction of the very large crude carrier, such that the inside and/or the outside of a side wall of each compartment is in contact with the ballast water to implement a strength test. By making a rational loading order, the method can rapidly complete a strength test for the very large crude carrier during a trial voyage without the need of loading all the compartments with ballast water for the strength test, shortening trial voyage time, reducing trial voyage costs.
