Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a structure for the front part of a vehicle occupant compartment, the structure being configured to reduce the vibration of a steering column by increasing the reinforcing performance of an air conditioning device which reinforces a cross member.
[Solution] An air conditioning unit 13 and a cross member 11 which supports a steering column 8 are arranged between an instrument panel 4 and a dash panel 6, which are located at the front of a vehicle occupant compartment 3. The blower 14 of the air conditioning unit 13 is mounted on the upper surface 18a of a floor panel 12 and is fastened and affixed to the floor panel 12 such that the blower 14 stands by itself alone. The support region 19 of the lower surface 17a of the blower case 17 is in surface contact with the upper surface 18a of the floor panel 12 and is directly supported from below by the floor panel 12. A cross member affixation section 21 located on the upper part of the blower case 17 is affixed to the cross member 11, and the blower 14 functions as a reinforcing member for supporting the cross member 11 from below and reinforcing the cross member 11.
