Abstract:
A structure for joining steel pipe columns according to the present invention is characterized in that: steel pipe columns are provided with connection members each having a fixed thickness and welded so as to project from at least one end part in a longitudinal direction but so as not to project from the outer circumference of the steel pipe column; the connection members are provided with bolt insertion holes that are disposed at positions where joining surfaces of the connection members are in surface contact with each other when upper and lower steel pipe columns are linearly opposed to each other in the longitudinal direction and that penetrate the joining surfaces in surface contact with each other; and the upper and lower steel pipe columns are joined by bolts through the bolt insertion holes of the connection members, respectively. Accordingly, welding work at a site is not necessary, simple and strong joining is possible with general-purpose bolts within regulations of the Building Standards Act, there are no projections from a columnar surface, and joining is possible at a cost not more than equivalent to that of the present bolt joining.
