Abstract:
A structure for supporting a crankshaft (1) of an internal combustion engine by using a crank cap (20) as a bearing member assembled to a cylinder block. The crank cap (20) is constructed from two split elements (left cap element (21), right cap element (22)) split in the direction of both sides (14, 14) of the cylinder block. With the cap elements (21, 22) assembled to the cylinder block (10), there is a gap (25) with a distance (D) between those end faces (21a, 22a) of the cap elements (21, 22) that face each other. The gap (25) does not allow the end faces (21a, 22a) to be in contact with each other in an actual use environment of the internal combustion engine.
