Abstract:
Provided is a structure of an outer hood for a rail car, which is provided on the end panel of a car body. The structure comprises a side hood portion (13) along the side of the end panel and a shoulder hood portion (17) curved at the shoulder portion of the end panel in order to increase sound insulating properties to suppress the release of the noise in a connected space between car bodies to the outside and increase the durability of the outer hood by increasing the sound insulating properties. The structure is characterized in that these portions are connected to each other and each formed of an elastic material, the cross section of the side hood portion (13) and the shoulder hood portion (17) is formed in a U-shape compsoed of inner bases, outer bases, and tip portions connecting the tips of these bases, the tip portions of the side hood portion (13) are formed thinner than the inner base (21) and the outer base (22) of the side hood portion (13), respectively, and the inner base (21a), the outer base (22a), and the tip portions in the shoulder hood portion (17) are formed thinner than the inner base (21) and the outer base (22) in the side hood portion, respectively.
