Abstract:
The present structure for a side portion of a vehicle body is configured in such a manner that a reinforcement member (10) is affixed along the outer surface (2S) of a buckling section (2A) provided to the upper part of a rocker inner member (2). As a result of the configuration, the compressive deformation side of a rocker (1) which is compressed and deformed when the rocker (1) is subjected to bending deformation due to a load, particularly that caused by a frontal collision, is reinforced by the reinforcement member (10), and thus the reinforcement member (10) can efficiently reinforce the rocker (1). In addition, providing the reinforcement member (10) to the outer surface (2S) of the rocker inner member (2) facilitates the joining of the reinforcement member (10) to the rocker inner member (2) during assembling work, improves the productivity, prevents an assembling mistake, and facilitates the design of the rocker (1) according to the types of vehicles. Also, the reinforcement member (10) provides the rocker (1) with improved rigidity even against a side collision.
