Abstract:
In an image reader provided with a lower frame which is positioned below a paper passage, an upper frame which is pivotally attached to the lower frame via a fulcrum shaft, positioned above the paper passage, and mounted thereon with the driving motor of an original feeding device and/or the rotation transmitting mechanism of the motor, and an optical unit positioned above the paper passage, the optical unit is provided with a unit frame which is formed separately from the upper frame and unit frame and upper frame are separately pivotally supported by a common fulcrum shaft supported by the lower frame in a non-contacting state. At the same time, the closing positions of the frames are individually locked through a stopper attached to the lower frame.
