Abstract:
Disclosed is a low-cost metal substrate which is resistant to high temperature oxidation, has excellent strength, is non-magnetic and is ideal for use for high-temperature superconducting wiring used at liquid nitrogen temperature. Austenitic stainless steel containing at least 0.4% by weight of nitrogen is used as a metal substrate for superconducting wiring. After 700-950°C heat treatment in the high-temperature super conducting layer formation step is carried out, the metal substrate has an extremely high 0.2% proof stress at liquid nitrogen temperature.
