Provided are a suction opening body and an electric cleaner (1), which enable dirt and dust entrapped between the brush bristles of a rotating cleaning body to be quickly removed by the rotation of the rotating cleaning body. A suction opening body (26) is provided with: a suction opening main body (32) having a suction opening (28) which is provided in the bottom surface, a suction chamber (63) which connects to the suction opening (28), and an intermediate pipe (66) which connects to the suction opening (28) through the suction chamber (63); a rotating cleaning body (29) which is disposed in the suction chamber (63) while being rotatably supported by the suction opening main body (32), and which has brush bristles (65) extending in a tangential direction; an electric motor (31) contained in the suction opening main body (32); a power transmission mechanism (51) for transmitting drive force from the electric motor (31) to the rotating cleaning body (29); and a brush bristle dirt/dust removing section (55) which protrudes from the inner peripheral surface (71) of the suction chamber (63), is in contact with the brush bristles (65), and throttles air sucked into the intermediate pipe (66).
