The sun screen board and the projection apparatus are installed underneath the upper portion of the front wall of a storefront (where the upper portion of store window and entrance meets the front wall) of a building.

Background Art [2] Many restaurants and shops occupying the ground floor of a building set up tables for customers or prodlct displays on open space in front of their respective storefronts.

It is common practice for these restaurants and shops that make use of the space in front of their storefronts for business to install sun screen board projection apparatus to block out the strong sunlight descending on patrons of their respective businesses during the daytime.

[3] The above mentioned sun screen board projection apparatus, when business hours are over or when the use of the area in front of the storefront is done, are reeled back into winders for safe keeping. The conventional sun screen boards are made of elastic materials such as fabric or synthetic resin films, and these boards are easily hoisted on winders. However, when the sun screen boards are reeled back into the winders, the winders that house the sun screen board are still left exposed on the exterior of the building, spoiling the appearance of the building. Furthermore, the conventional sun screen board projection apparatus have complicated mechanism structure for auto- matically roll out and roll in the sun screen board, and use too many parts that the man- ufacturing of the apparatus are difficult, and the complex mechanism make the apparatus susceptible to frequent breakdowns, making the conventional sun screen board projection apparatus difficult to use and maintain.

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention [11] Hereinafter, the preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with references to the accompanying drawings.

[12] Fig. 1 and Fig 3 are a perspective view and longitudinal cross-sectional view re- spectively of the present invention showing sun screen board at rest inside the building. Fig. 2 and Fig 4 are a perspective view and longitudinal cross-sectional view respectively of the present invention showing sun screen board projected outwards over an empty space in front of a store. The front portion of the sun screen board is attached to the length and bottom of the moveable sign board 21, and the sun screen board 20 is installed underneath the upper portion of the front wall 11 of a store (the part where the upper portion of store window and entrance meet the concrete or brick wall of a building). A rack 22 is attached to both sides on the lower end of the sun screen board 20. A forward-backward drive motor 30 is installed on inner side of one of the lateral walls 12. Two driving pinions 32 are coupled with the racks 22, so that when the forward-backward drive motor 30 is turned on, depending on the direction of the turn of the motor 30, the sun screen board 20 is projected out of the building 10 or drawn back inside the building 10.

[13] As illustrated in the drawing, a switch control stick 23 is installed on the lower end of the sun screen board 20, and control switch 24/25 are installed on the center of inner part of the lateral wall 12 and on the rear wall 13 respectively. The switch control stick 23 along with the two control switches 24/25 control the maximum length the sun screen board 20 projects out and also the maximum retraction of the sun screen board 20. A chain block 33 is installed on the forward-backward drive motor 30, and a manual pull line 34 is installed onto the chain block 33 so that the driving pinion 32 can also be manually operated.

[14] In addition, as shown in Fig 2, a plurality of suspension chords 40 are attached from the front wall 14 to the moveable signboard 21 so that when the moveable signboard 21 projects outwards, the suspended chords hang out beautifully, making the appearance of the building 10 appealing to onlookers.

[15] The present invention is constituted as described above. As shown in Fig. 1 and Fig. 3, the moveable signboard 21 is closely placed in front of the fixed signboard 50.

While the sun screen board 20 is at rest inside the building, using a separate control switch (not illustrated in the drawings), the forward-backward drive motor 30 is switched on to turn in forward direction. The forward-backward drive motor 30 in turn turns the driving pinion 32 which then projects the two racks 22 along with the sun screen board 20 attached to the racks 22 forward. In this regard, the sun screen board 20 is projected outwards from inside the building 10, and blocks out the sunlight shining on the area in front of the storefront of a building 10.

[16] As shown in Fig. 2 and Fig. 4, with sun screen board 20 projected outwards, the moveable signboard 21 is also projected outwards a certain length from the fixed signboard 50. The passerby can see the contents of the moveable signboard 21 as well the contents of the fixed signboard 50. The two signboards have the effect of increasing visibility of store name, thus increasing the efficiency of advertising.

[17] As shown in Fig. 2, a plurality of suspension chords 40 are attached from front wall 14 of a building 10 to the moveable signboard 21 so that when moveable signboard 21 is projected outwards, the suspension chords 40 hang loose beautifully, enhancing the exterior appearance of the building.

[18] The projected sun screen board 20 can be drawn back inside the building by using a separate control switch to turn on the forward-backward drive motor 30 in the opposite direction, which in turn turns the driving pinion 32 in the opposite direction so that the racks 22 coupled to the pinion, along with the sun screen board 20 attached to the racks 22, are drawn back inside the building 10. The sun screen board comes to a rest underneath the upper portion of the front wall of a storefront. The moveable signboard 21 attached to the sun screen board 20 too is drawn back in, and the moveable signboard 21 comes to rest right in front of the fixed signboard 50.

[19] In accordance with an aspect of the present invention, the said sun screen board 20, when projected outwards from inside the building 10, a switch control stick 23 installed on the lower end of the sun screen board, turns on the control switch 24 installed on the inner part of the lateral walls 12 and stops the running forward- backward drive motor 30 and also stops the moving sun screen board 20. The switch control stick 23, when the sun screen board is being drawn back inside the building, again turns on the control switch 25 installed on the inner part of the rear wall 13 of the building 10 and the control switch 25 stops the motor 30 as well as the backward movement of the sun screen board 20. In this regard, the maximum projection and the maximum retraction of the sun screen board is controlled.

[20] In accordance with another aspect of the present invention, by pulling on the manual pull line 34 connected to the chain block 33 which is installed on the axial of the forward-backward drive motor 30, the driving pinion 32 can be rotated manually to project sun screen board 20 outwards or draw the sun screen board 20 back inside the building.

[21] Thus there is provided in accordance with the present invention a sun screen board projection apparatus that accomplishes the objects of the invention set out above.

Many modifications of the preferred embodiments of the invention disclosed above will readily occur to those skilled in the art. The invention includes all such modi- fictions as fall within the scope of the appended claims.

Industrial Applicability [22] As mentioned above, the present invention is installed underneath the upper portion of the front wall of a storefront of a building 10 (where the upper portion of store window and entrance meets the front wall) so that the sun screen board 20 and the projection apparatus is hidden from view. The projection apparatus draws out the sun screen board 20 from inside the building 10 to cover the open space in front of a store to block out the sunlight. The sun screen board projection apparatus, when the use of sun screen board 20 is completed, draws the sun screen board 20 back inside the building 10. According to the present invention, the sun screen board projection apparatus is produced with few components, making production simpler and cheaper.

The installation of said apparatus is simple and easy. The said sun screen board projection apparatus has no concern for breakdowns so the maintenance cost is kept at minimal. When the sun screen board 20 is projected outwards, the fixed signboard 50 as well as the moveable signboard 21 displays the store's name, increasing the visibility of the store's name to passerby. The suspension chords 40 attached to the building 10 and to the moveable signboard 21 enhance the exterior appearance of the building.
