Claim 1. A sunshade cap, comprising:

a. a cap body (50) comprising

1. a crown (52) for covering the top of a wearer' s head, said crown including an exterior crown surface (86), an interior crown surface (86), a front crown portion (56), a rear crown portion (58), a left crown portion (78), a right crown portion (80), a bottom crown edge (84), a vertex (72), a front centerline (74), and a rear centerline (82);

2. a visor (54) extending forwardly from the front crown portion near the bottom crown edge;

b. a left sunshield member (118) and a right sunshield member (160) attached to said crown for shading the left and right side of the wearer's face and being retractable on said crown, said left and right sunshield members being mirror images of each other having a pretermined shape, and including a first side (120, 162) facing outward when retracted onto said crown, a second side (158, 198) facing toward said crown when retracted thereon, a front edge (124, 166), a top edge (126, 168), a bottom edge (122, 164) and a rear edge (128, 170);

c. a rear sunshield member (200) attached to said crown for shading the back of the wearer's neck and ears and being retractable on said crown, said rear sunshield member having a predetermined shape, and including a first side (202) facing outward when retracted onto said crown, a second side (248) facing inward toward said crown when retracted thereon, a top edge (206), a bottom edge (204), a left edge (208) and a right edge (210);

d. a plurality of permanent or detachable fastening members configured at predetermined positions on each of said left, right and left sunshield members and on said crown, for permanently or detachably attaching at least a portion of the bottom end of each of said left, right and rear sunshield members second side thereof to said crown near the bottom crown edge thereof;

1. wherein the forwardmost attaching position is configured by having the front end of said left and right sunshield members near both the front edge and the bottom edge thereof attach near the front centerline on either side thereof, and the rearmost attaching position of said left and right sunshield members occurs at a predetermined position between the middle of the

47 left and right crown portion respectively and a forward location on the rear crown portion, and forward of any attaching position of said rear sunshield member on said crown, so that said left and right sunshield members drape forwardly down the left and right side respectively of said visor to forwardly shade the sides of the wearer's face and the cheeks, and at an angle that also provides shading to the rear portion of the wearer's face and the ears;

2. wherein the left and right ends of said rear sunshield member are attached between and near a forward location on the rear crown portion and a rearward location on the left and right crown portions respectively, and rearward of any attaching position of said left and right sunshield member, and at least one attaching position on said crown is disposed between the two end attaching positions on said crown, so that said rear sunshield member drapes down near the rear crown portion below the bottom crown edge to shade the back of the neck and possibly the back of the ears;

e. at least one detachable fastening member configured at a predetermined position on each of said left and right sunshield members, and a plurality of detachable fastening members configured at predetermined positions on said rear sunshield members, for securing in a position of retraction at least one angled folded flaps (260, 262) formed on and extending outwardly from each of said left and right sunshield members and at least two angled folded flaps (268, 270) formed on and extending either outwardly or inwardly from said rear sunshield member;

1. wherein at least one detachable fastening member is disposed on the exterior side of each folded flap formed on said left and right sunshield member for coupling with the following that is further included: at least one detachable fastening member on the same said sunshield member and/or at least one detachable fastening member configured on said rear sunshield member and/or at least one detachable fastening member configured on said crown and/or at least one detachable fastening member on the same said sunshield member;

2. wherein at least one detachable fastening member is disposed on either the exterior or interior side of each folded flap formed on said rear sunshield member for coupling with the following that is further included: at least one detachable fastening member on the same said sunshield member and/or at least one detachable fastening member configured on said crown and/or at least one detachable fastening member configured on an adjacent sunshield member; f a plurality of detachable fastening members configured at predetermined positions on said crown within 5.1 cm (2 inches) of the vertex, and a plurality of detachable fastening members configured among said left, right and rear sunshield members, for detachably attaching portions of said left, right and rear sunshield members to the top of said crown;

1. wherein at least one detachable fastening member is disposed on said crown for coupling with a corresponding detachable fastening member disposed near the front edge of each of said left and right sunshield members, so that the front edge thereof is laid near and along the front centerline on said crown during retraction, thereby creating a neat orderly appearance of the front crown portion after retraction;

2. wherein at least one detachable fastening member is disposed on said crown for coupling with a corresponding detachable fastening member disposed near the top portion of said rear sunshield member; wherein the configuration of said detachable fastening members on both said crown and said rear sunshield member is adapted for holding down and securing one or more folds on said rear sunshield member during retraction;

wherein said left, right and rear sunshield members are substantially made of flexible foldable fabric or fabric-like material.

Claim 2. The sunshade cap as defined by claim 1, wherein said detachable fastening members on said sunshade cap includes plastic snap fastening members.

Claim 3. The sunshade cap as defined by claim 1, wherein said permanent fastening members on the sunshade cap includes stitches. Claim 4. The sunshade cap as defined by claim 1, wherein the front crown portion (56) is stiffened with stiffening material on the interior crown surface to make the front crown portion structured so that said left and right sunshield members can be laid smoothly on the front crown portion during retraction to minimize crumpling of the fabric. Claim 5. The sunshade cap as defined by claim 1, wherein said crown includes a size adjuster (76).

Claim 6. The sunshade cap as defined by claim 1, wherein said rear sunshield member is substantially rectangular.

Claim 7. The sunshade cap as defined by claim 1, wherein said left and right sunshield members have a shape characterized in that the bottom edge and the front edge initially meet at approximately 90 degree angle, with the bottom edge curved upward and the front edge curved rearward, the shape and curvature of both edges adapted to the size and contour of said crown and the front crown portion;

Claim 8. The sunshade cap as defined by claim 1, wherein said left and right sunshield members are attached with fastening members to the front crown portion near the bottom crown edge, and detachably attached near the vertex with detachable fastening members such that when said left and right sunshield member are retracted, the front edges thereof laying on top of said crown either abut the front centerline on both sides thereof or slightly overlap the front centerline so that they lean against each other to form a slight ridge to seal any gaps between the front edges; wherein a plurality of fastening members are disposed near front centerline, and at least one detachable fastening member is disposed near front edge of each of said left and right sunshield members.

Claim 9. The sunshade cap as defined by claim 1, wherein the top edge and/or the rear edge of said left and right sunshield members is comprised of smaller edges.

Claim 10. The sunshade cap as defined by claim 1, wherein the length of the front edge of said left and right sunshield members is within a range between the distance from the bottom crown edge to the vertex minus 2.5 cm (1 inch) and the distance from the bottom crown edge to the vertex of said crown plus 10.2 cm (4 inches).

Claim 11. The sunshade cap as defined by claim 1, wherein the length of the bottom edge of said left and right sunshield members is within a range between the distance from the front centerline to the middle of the side crown portion measured at the bottom crown edge, and the distance from the front centerline to the rear centerline, measured by setting any existing size adjuster so that the lateral length of the front and rear crown portions are equal.

Claim 12. The sunshade cap as defined by claim 1, wherein said left and right sunshield members each have a bottom edge sufficiently long for creating long folded flaps (260)(262) that, when retracted horizontally, have a portion thereof extending onto said rear sunshield member and the rear crown portion, and the sunshade cap further comprises at least one detachable fastening member on said rear sunshield member on the first side and at least one detachable fastening member on the rear crown portion, for coupling with at least one detachable fastening member on each of the folded flaps, so that the folded flaps can be secured in their retracted positions on the cap body when said rear sunshield member is either deployed or retracted. Claim 13. The sunshade cap as defined by claim 1, further comprising a plurality of detachable fastening members disposed on each of said left and right sunshield members and facing the first side thereof, for securing an earflap (274) in its deployed position to shade the ears, created when the angled folded flaps (260)(262) of sufficiently long length is turned down from its retracted position to drape below the bottom crown edge for shading the ears; wherein at least one detachable fastening member disposed on the earflap exterior side thereof is coupled with at least one corresponding detachable fastening member disposed adjacent to the bottom edge of each of said left and right sunshield member.

Claim 14. The sunshade cap as defined by claim 1, wherein the angled folded flaps

(150)(190)(228)(230) which starts from a central location extending to an edge or folded edge of said sunshield member, and the pinching of an adjacent second fold along a second fold line (152)(192)(256)(258) in the opposite direction that shares the same focal point from the central location and also extends to an edge or folded edge, so that the first fold creates an edge that rises up starting from the focal point at an angle defined by the angle between the first and second fold line to form an angled folded flap, and the second fold also serves as an axis that guides the flap toward its position of retraction; wherein the folded flaps extend outwardly from said left and right sunshield members, and extend either outwardly or inwardly from said rear sunshield member.

Claim 15. The sunshade cap as defined by claim 1, further comprising at least one detachable fastening member (156)(196) disposed near the rear edge of each of said left and right sunshield members facing the second side thereof, for coupling with an existing detachable fastening member disposed on the left and right side of the rear crown portion for retracting the folded flaps of the left and right sunshield members and/or one or more further included detachable fastening member on the rear crown portion, for adjusting the draping of said left and right sunshield members more rearward down the side of the visor to provide a wider angle of view while said rear sunshield member is deployed; said detachable fastening member on said left and right sunshield members also adapted to couple with an existing detachable fastening member disposed on said rear sunshield member for retracting the left and right folded flaps when said rear sunshield is retracted and/or one or more further included detachable fastening members on said rear sunshield member, for adjusting the draping to provide a wider angle of view when said rear sunshield member is retracted.

Claim 16. The sunshade cap as defined by claim 1, further comprising

a. a front sunshield member (284) comprising a visor sleeve (285) having a front portion and a rear portion (288) that generally matches the shape of the visor and a sleeve opening (289); a sleeve flap member (290) permanently or detachably attached to the inside of said visor sleeve, wherein said sleeve flap member can be turned out so that a portion thereof extends beyond said sleeve opening to increase the shading coverage;

b. at least one detachable fastening member disposed at each end of the front portion of said visor sleeve for securing said front sunshield member to the left and right sunshield members for shading the front of wearer's face below the eyes, and for also securing said front sunshield member onto said visor for storage by coupling with at least one further included detachable fastening member disposed on said crown adjacent to the bottom crown edge and near each end of said visor; said detachable fastening members on said front sunshield member may be coupled with an existing detachable fastening members disposed near the front edge of said left and right sunshield members and/or one or more detachable fastenening member thereof that is further included on said left and right sunshield members;

wherein said front sunshield member is substantially made of flexible fabric or fabric-like material.

Claim 17. The sunshade cap as defined by claim 16 wherein the rear portion of said visor sleeve is at least partially reinforced on the interior side with a stiffening material that is abled to retain a curved shape to prevent the rear portion of said visor sleeve from drooping during retraction.

Claim 18. The sunshade cap as defined by Claim 16, further comprising a pair of straps (314, 316), each of said strap attached to each end of said visor sleeve interior thereof and having at least one detachable fastening member at the unattached end for coupling with at least one

52 detachable fastening members further included on said sunshade cap, that is disposed on the front crown portion near the front centerline and the bottom crown edge, wherein said straps drape down from each side of said visor to suspend said front sunshield member in front of the wearer's face to provide shading for the front of the face below the eyes, with said sleeve flap member turned out and a portion thereof extending beyond said sleeve opening, thereby enabling said front sunshield member to be deployed independent of said left and right sunshield members; wherein said straps are substantially made of flexible fabric or fabric-like material so that they can be readily tucked inside said visor sleeve for storage when not being used. Claim 19. A sunshade cap, comprising:

a. a cap body (50) comprising

1. a crown (52) for covering the top of a wearer' s head, said crown including an exterior crown surface (86), an interior crown surface (86), a front crown portion (56), a rear crown portion (58), a left crown portion (78), a right crown portion (80), a bottom crown edge (84), a vertex (72), a front centerline (74), and a rear centerline (82);

2. a visor (54) extending forwardly from the front crown portion near the bottom crown edge;

b. a left sunshield member (118) and a right sunshield member (160) attached to said crown for shading the left and right side of the wearer's face and being retractable on said crown, said left and right sunshield members being mirror images of each other having a pretermined shape, and including a first side (120, 162) facing outward when retracted onto said crown, a second side (158, 198) facing toward said crown when retracted thereon, a front edge (124, 166), a top edge (126, 168), a bottom edge (122, 164) and a rear edge (128, 170);

c. a rear sunshield member (200) attached to said crown for shading the back of the wearer's neck and ears and being retractable on said crown, said rear sunshield member having a predetermined shape, and including a first side (202) facing outward when retracted onto said crown, a second side (248) facing inward toward said crown when retracted thereon, a top edge (206), a bottom edge (204), a left edge (208) and a right edge (210);

d. a zipper (328) disposed within 7.6 cm (3 inches) from and along the front edge of each of said left and right sunshield member, with the closed zipper bottom near the bottom edge and the zipper opening at the top edge, wherein, when the tab and slider of said zipper is pulled down, fabric to the left and right of said zipper will be detached and separated, and when the tab and slider of said zipper is pulled up, fabric to the left and right of said zipper is attached;

53 e. a plurality of permanent fastening members configured at predetermined positions on each of said left, right and left sunshield members and on said crown, for permanently or detachably attaching at least a portion of the bottom end of each of said left, right and rear sunshield members second side thereof to said crown near the bottom crown edge thereof;

1. wherein the forwardmost attaching position is configured by having the front end of said left and right sunshield members near both the front edge and the bottom edge thereof attach near the front centerline on either side thereof, and the rearmost attaching position of said left and right sunshield members occurs at a predetermined position between the middle of the left and right crown portion respectively and a forward location on the rear crown portion, and forward of any attaching position of said rear sunshield member on said crown, so that said left and right sunshield members drape forwardly down the left and right side respectively of said visor to forwardly shade the sides of the wearer's face and the cheeks, and at an angle that also provides shading to the rear portion of the wearer's face and the ears;

2. wherein the left and right ends of said rear sunshield member are attached between and near a forward location on the rear crown portion and a rearward location on the left and right crown portions respectively, and rearward of any attaching position of said left and right sunshield member, and at least one of attaching position on said crown is disposed between the two end attaching positions on said crown, so that said rear sunshield member drapes down near the rear crown portion below the bottom crown edge to shade the back of the neck and possibly the back of the ears;

f. at least one detachable fastening member configured at a predetermined position on each of said left and right sunshield members, and a plurality of detachable fastening members configured at predetermined positions on said rear sunshield members, for securing in a position of retraction at least one angled folded flaps (260, 262) formed on and extending outwardly from each of said left and right sunshield members and at least two angled folded flaps (268, 270) formed on and extending either outwardly or inwardly from said rear sunshield member;

1. wherein at least one detachable fastening member is disposed on the exterior side of each folded flap formed on said left and right sunshield member for coupling with the following that is further included: at least one detachable fastening member on the same said sunshield member and/or at least one detachable fastening member configured on said rear sunshield member and/or at least one detachable fastening member configured on said crown and/or at least one detachable fastening member on the same said sunshield member;

2. wherein at least one detachable fastening member is disposed on either the exterior or interior side of each folded flap formed on said rear sunshield member for coupling with the following that is further included: at least one detachable fastening member on the same said sunshield member and/or at least one detachable fastening member configured on said crown and/or at least one detachable fastening member configured on an adjacent sunshield member; g. At least one detachable fastening member disposed at a predetermined position on said crown within 5.1 cm (2 inches) of the vertex, and at least one corresponding detachable fastening members disposed near the top portion of said rear sunshield member, for detachably attaching portions of said rear sunshield member to the top of said crown; wherein the configuration of the detachable fastening members on both said crown and said rear sunshield member is adapted for holding down and securing one or more folds on said rear sunshield member during retraction;

h. a plurality of permanent fasteners disposed on said crown along the front centerline from the bottom crown edge to near the vertex for attach said left and right sunshield members so that the front edge thereof abuts along the front centerline, thereby creating a neat orderly appearance of the front crown portion after retraction;

wherein said left, right and rear sunshield members are substantially made of flexible foldable fabric or fabric-like material. Claim 20. A sunshade cap, comprising:

a. a cap body (50) comprising

1. a crown (52) for covering the top of a wearer' s head, said crown including an exterior crown surface (86), an interior crown surface (86), a front crown portion (56), a rear crown portion (58), a left crown portion (78), a right crown portion (80), a bottom crown edge (84), a vertex (72), a front centerline (74), and a rear centerline (82);

2. a visor (54) extending forwardly from the front crown portion near the bottom crown edge;

b. a front sunshield member (284) comprising a visor sleeve (285) having a front portion (286) and a rear portion (288) that generally match the shape of the visor, a sleeve opening (289); a sleeve flap member (290) permanently or detachably attached to the inside of said visor sleeve, wherein said sleeve flap member can be turned out so that a portion thereof extends beyond said sleeve opening to increase the shading coverage of said visor sleeve; wherein said

55 sleeve flap member is held upright in its extended position by being sandwiched between said front portion and said rear portion of said visor sleeve;

c. at least one detachable fastening member disposed at each end of the front portion of said visor sleeve, for securing said front sunshield member onto said visor for storage, by coupling with at least one further included detachable fastening member disposed on said crown adjacent to the bottom crown edge and near each end of said visor;

d. a pair of straps (314, 316), each of said strap attached to each end of said visor sleeve interior thereof and having at least one detachable fastening member at the unattached end, for coupling with at least one detachable fastening members further included on said sunshade cap, that is disposed on the front crown portion near the front centerline and the bottom crown edge, so that said straps drape down from each side of said visor to suspend said front sunshield member in front of the wearer's face to provide shading for the front of the face below the eyes, with said sleeve flap member turned out and a portion thereof extending beyond said sleeve opening;

wherein said front sunshield member is substantially made of flexible fabric or fabric-like material;

wherein said straps are substantially made of flexible fabric or fabric-like material so that they can be tucked inside said visor sleeve for storage when not being used.
