Abstract:
This superabrasive wheel is provided with: a hard substrate formed of cemented carbide having a Young's modulus of at least 300 GPa; and an annular superabrasive layer disposed at the outer circumference of the hard substrate. A cross section of the superabrasive wheel, obtained by cutting the superabrasive layer along a plane including the rotational axis of the superabrasive wheel and being parallel to the rotational axis, has an axisymmetric shape. In a region, of the cross section, that impinges on a workpiece: a first portion where the outer diameter of the superabrasive wheel becomes maximum and a second portion where the outer diameter is smaller than that of the first portion, are provided; the first portion is located on the axis of symmetry; and a curved surface portion is formed so as to abut on a lateral surface of the superabrasive layer in the cross-section of the superabrasive layer.
