Abstract:
Disclosed is a superconducting cable with low material costs and good withstand voltage performance and which can suppress dielectric loss. Specifically disclosed is an AC superconducting cable (10) with an insulating layer (5) on the external circumference of a conductor, and which is characterized by: the insulating layer (5) being formed by a first insulating layer (5a), a second insulating layer (5b) and a third insulating layer (5c), in order from the inside layer to the outside layer; the insulating layer (5) being impregnated with liquid nitrogen; the product of the dielectric constant ε1 of the first insulating layer (5a) and the dielectric loss tangent tanδ1 and the product of the dielectric constant ε2 of the second insulating layer (5b) and the dielectric loss tangent tanδ2 fulfilling the relationship ε1×tanδ1>ε2×tanδ2; and the product of the dielectric constant ε2 of the second insulating layer (5b) and the dielectric loss tangent tanδ2 and the product of the dielectric constant ε3 of the third insulating layer (5c) and the dielectric loss tangent tanδ3 fulfilling the relationship ε2×tanδ2<ε3×tanδ3.
