Abstract:
The present invention relates to a superconducting fault current limiter having a direct cooling structure and a method for controlling same. The superconducting fault current limiter having a direct cooling structure, according to the present invention, comprises: a cryogenic freezer having a cold head inserted into a fault current limiter tank; a refrigerant container containing a liquid refrigerant and an insulating gas; a freezer insertion part into which the cold head is inserted and which is filled with the liquid refrigerant and the insulating gas; a water level adjustment gas flow channel and a water level adjustment valve through which the insulating gas of the freezer insertion part is discharged or introduced; a pressure adjustment flow channel and a pressure adjustment valve connecting a main chamber of the refrigerant container to the water level control gas flow channel; and a control part for controlling the water level adjustment valve and the pressure adjustment valve so that, when the cryogenic freezer is driven, the liquid refrigerant is in contact with or separated from the cold head of the cryogenic freezer.
