Abstract:

The objective of the present invention is to provide a superconducting wire establishing, in an MgB2 wire, thermal stability of the wire and ease of achieving a superconducting connection, simultaneously. The configuration of the present invention is as follows: the superconducting wire comprises a first metal not reacting with Mg, and a strand constituted from MgB2; and in a cross section orthogonal to the length direction of the superconducting wire, the region from the center of the superconducting wire to the position where the strand is provided configuring the strand and the first metal.
