Abstract:
Provided is a superconducting wire rod comprising a flat cross sectional shape that, while experiencing no decrease in critical current, is able to reduce hysteresis loss and inhibit generation of heat. In a superconducting wire rod (REBCO wire rod 100) comprising a flat cross section shape, a superconductive layer (103) of the superconducting wire rod (REBCO wire rod 100) is provided with a plurality of grooves (110) skewed in relation to the long direction (L) of the wire rod, the grooves (110) being of such length as to not cross the width direction (z) of the wire rod. The grooves (110) are filled with metal (metal layer 115).
