Title:
A SUPPLEMENTARY EVAPORATOR FOR REFRIGERATORS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2000/075580
Kind Code:
A2
Abstract:
The cooling operation required in the freezer compartment is provided faster and more homogeneously by means of a supplementary evaporator (3) incorporated in the refrigerator. The said supplementary evaporator (3), is after the fresh food compartment evaporator (1). In the cooling cycle of the refrigerator, the refrigerant preferably first reaches to the freezer evaporator (2), then to the fresh food compartment evaporator (1) and finally to the supplementary evaporator (3), after which the cycle is completed.

CLAIMS
1. A refrigerator characterized with a supplementary evaporator (3) that is constructed separately from the freezer evaporator (2) and the fresh food compartment evaporator (l) and placed vertically or horizontally at the bottom of the cabinet in order to avoid the heat created by the compressor (4).
2. A refrigerator according to Claim 1, characterized with a cooling cycle wherein the refrigerant preferably first reaches to the freezer evaporator (2), then to the fresh food compartment evaporator (1) and finally to the supplementary evaporator (3), after which the cycle is completed.
3. A refrigerator according to Claim 1 and 2, characterized in that the supplementary evaporator (3) is placed within the cabinet before the polyurethane is filled in.
Description:
A SUPPLEMENTARY EVAPORATOR FOR REFRIGERATORS The present invention is related to improving the cooling performance of a two- door type refrigerator having a freezer and a fresh food compartment, by enhancing its freezing capacity and reducing its energy consumption.

In such refrigerators generally two evaporators are employed, one in the freezer and the second one in the fresh food compartment. As the volume of the freezer compartment is large, the temperature distribution in the said compartment cannot be provided homogeneously and the intra-compartmental temperature cannot reach to the desired level in a short time.

Furthermore, in the refrigerators in which the freezer compartment is located at the lower part, the local heating problem originating from the compressor placed below the freezer compartment also has a negative impact on the homogenous distribution of heat within the volume. Thus, the use of an evaporator that is placed inside the freezer compartment, and which occupies a large volume has been proposed.

The object of the present invention is to avoid the said local heat generated in the vicinity of the compressor without any usable volume loss in the refrigerator and to increase the freezing capacity and to improve the cooling performance, as well as reducing energy consumption, in a two-door type refrigerator having a freezer and a fresh food compartments.

The embodiment of a supplementary evaporator for refrigerators, realised in order to attain the object of the invention is illustrated in the attached drawings, wherein: Figure 1, is the view showing the positioning of the evaporators in the refrigerator;

Figure 2, is the view of the cooling circuit; Figure 3, shows an alternative positioning of the supplementary evaporator in the refi igerator; Figure 4, show the monobloc positioning of the supplementary evaporator in the refrigerator.

The components shown in the drawings have been enumerated individually as follows: 1. Fresh food evaporator 2. Freezer evaporator 3. Supplementary evaporator 4. Compressor 5. Condenser 6. Dryer The cooling operation required in the freezer compartment is provided faster and more homogeneously by means of a supplementary evaporator (3) incorporated in the refrigerator. The said supplementary evaporator (3), is after the fresh food compartment evaporator (1). In the cooling cycle of the refrigerator, the refrigerant preferably first reaches to the freezer evaporator (2), then to the fresh food compartment evaporator (1) and finally to the supplementary evaporator (3) after which the cycle is completed. However the order of operation of the evaporators may be altered in this cycle.

The supplementary evaporator (3) is constructed separately from the freezer evaporator (2), and the fresh food compartment evaporator (1) and placed vertically or horizontally in the polyurethane, at the bottom of the cabinet. With this layout, the source of heat created due to the compressor (4) is also avoided.

Furthermore, as the supplementary evaporator (3) is placed in the polyurethane,

at the bottom of the cabinet, there is no loss of the usable volume inside the freezer compartment.

As the supplementary evaporator (3) is placed before the polyurethane is laid in the refrigerator, it enables easy mounting.
