Description:
SUPPORT FOR LED LIGHTING BODIES

DESCRIPTION

This patent relates to supports for LED lighting bodies and in particular relates to a new support for LED lighting bodies.

LED lighting bodies are made of a diode with the characteristic of emitting light when powered.

High-brightness LED lighting bodies that have the ability to emit more light with the same power consumption and with a smaller size so as to be preferred over normal incandescent lamps are known.

The high brightness LED lighting bodies, however, produce considerable heat even up to 60-80°C, which must be dissipated by conduction.

Orientable supports for lighting bodies in general are known.

Many orientable supports for lighting bodies are comprised of a lightweight metal frame or in any case in such a way as to support the socket, or the connection to which the lighting body is screwed or inserted.

Many orientable supports for lighting bodies are comprised of two variously hinged or interconnected rings, one of which is fastened to a fixed support, while the other orientable ring supports one or more lighting bodies.

The amount of heat generated by high-brightness LEDs cannot be dissipated through the orientable part itself, nor is it transmitted to the ring fastened to the support.

The correct orientation of the lighting bodies, mounted on the orientable support, is done preferably with the bodies on, directing the ring or the orientable part in the desired direction.

Since the support is very hot, it is very difficult to orient the lighting bodies without using tools. LED lighting bodies which are recessed and watertight are known, comprising a containment frame of one LED carrier body and a closing glass positioned before said lighting bodies.

To orient the lighting bodies it is therefore necessary to act inside the frame, with great difficulty due to the reduced space for intervention.

In addition, after completing the installation, in case of errors in the adjustment of the direction of focus, it is necessary to re-open the frame and adjust the orientation with further difficulties.

Swinging orientable supports comprising a fastening portion of the support generically shaped as a cylindrical ring with a concave curved inner wall and an orientable part supporting the lighting bodies generically shaped like a disk or plate and with seats for the LED lighting bodies and an outer edge curved identically to said seat of the fastening portion are known.

To orient said orientable part it is in any case necessary for the operator or user to intervene with their hands, with the disadvantages due to the heat generated by the lighting bodies.

To overcome all the aforementioned problems, a new type of support for LED lighting bodies was designed and constructed.

The main task of this invention is to orient the lighting bodies without having to remove any component of the support itself.

Another aim of the present invention is to be able to orient the lighting bodies without having to come into direct contact with them, but rather using a commonly used tool, such as a screwdriver, and acting from the outside of the support.

Another aim of the present invention is to speed up the installation procedures, since the adjustment of the orientation of the lighting bodies can be done quickly even after installation. These and other aims, direct and complementary, are achieved by the new support for LED lighting bodies comprising in its main parts a watertight containment frame containing a fixed body, integral with said frame, and an orientable LED supporting body capable of swinging with respect to said fixed body, and wherein a means of adjustment rests on said orientable body, said means of adjustment being suited to bring about and control the rotation of said orientable body about its axis of rotation, to orient the focal axis of the lighting bodies.

Said adjusting means includes at least one threaded pin or screw inserted in a guide or a cylindrical seat of said fixed body and correspondingly threaded, said screw resting on said orientable body, and where screwing/unscrewing said screw causes the translation in an axial direction in said guide or seat, in one direction or the other direction.

The translation of said screw in one direction causes the rotation of said orientable body for example rotating it clockwise or counter clockwise, varying the angle of inclination of the focal of the lighting bodies with respect to the normal to the support.

Furthermore, according to the invention, said adjusting means also comprises at least one elastic recovery means, resting on said orientable body and contrasting the action of said adjustment screw, to ensure, moreover, that said orientable body remains against said screw itself.

The head of said screw comprises a cut for common screwdrivers and is accessible from outside the containment frame so that the user can adjust the orientation of the orientable body and thus the focal of the LEDs using a standard screwdriver without removing any component of the support and without directly touching the LEDs.

The pitch of said screw is small, for example 1 mm, so as to allow for very precise adjustment.

The characteristics of this invention will be better clarified by the following description with reference to the drawing, attached by way of example without limitation, where figure 1 represents a cross section of the new support (1) for LED lighting bodies.

The new support (1) for LED lighting bodies comprises in its main parts a watertight containment frame (11) of a fixed body (2), integral with said frame (11), and an orientable body (3) able to swing with respect to said fixed body (2) around at least one axis of rotation (X).

Said orientable body (3) supports one or more LED lighting bodies (7), possibly with one or more diffusion lenses (71), with focal (72) preferably normal to said axis of rotation (X) of the orientable body (3).

A lens or closing glass (6) of said containment frame (11) is placed before said LED lighting bodies (7).

In particular, said fixed body (2) comprises, for example, an annular seat (21) with a concave curved inner wall, such as to house and allow the swinging movement of said orientable body (3), having a substantially annular shape with a convex arched edge (31), in a manner corresponding to said seat (21) of said fixed body (2).

At least one adjusting means (4) rests on said orientable body (3) and is suitable to control the oscillation of said orientable body (3) around said axis of rotation (X).

In this manner it is possible to change the inclination of the focal axis (72) of the LEDs (7) with respect to the normal (Y) to the support (1), thereby orienting the direction of the light beam generated by said LEDs (7).

In the preferred embodiment, said orientable body (3) comprises a part or lever (32) on which said adjusting means (4) rests to control the oscillation of the orientable body (3).

In particular, this adjusting means (4) comprises at least one threaded pin or screw (41), inserted in a guide or a cylindrical seat (45) of said fixed body (2) correspondingly threaded, and where screwing/unscrewing said screw (41) causes the translation of said screw in the axial direction in said guide or seat (45), in one direction or the opposite direction.

The tip (44) of said screw (41) rests on said lever (32) of said orientable body (3) in an orthogonal direction (Z) to said axis of rotation (X) and acts on the plane of rotation of said orientable body (3).

The translation of said screw (41) resting on said lever (32) in one direction or the other direction then causes the rotation of said orientable body (3) around its axis of rotation (X) clockwise or counter clockwise.

As shown in Figure 1, for example, screwing said screw (41), causes its translation in one direction and the rotation of said orientable body (3) clockwise, reducing the angle of inclination of the focal (72) with respect to the normal (Y) until they overlap.

Further tightening said screw (41), causes the further rotation of said orientable body (3) clockwise, increasing the angle of inclination of the focal (72) with respect to the normal (Y) from the opposite side.

Conversely, loosening said screw (41) causes its translation in the opposite direction and the rotation of said orientable body (3) in the opposite direction counter clockwise, bringing the focal (72) of the LEDs toward the normal (Y). Further loosening said screw (41) causes the further rotation of said orientable body (3) counter clockwise, increasing the angle of inclination of the focal (72) with respect to the normal (Y) from the opposite side.

In the preferred embodiment represented in the figure, said lever (32) of the orientable body (3) is situated below and central to the orientable body (3), extending in a direction substantially parallel to the focal (72) of the LEDs (7), and where, on the free end of said lever (32), said point (44) of said adjusting screw (41) rests.

Said adjusting means (4) also includes at least one elastic recovery means (5) which also rests on said lever (32) of said orientable body (3) and is suitable to counteract the action of said adjusting screw (41) on said orientable body (3), maintaining said lever (32) against said screw (41). Said elastic means (5) comprises, for example, a compression-loaded spring, coaxial with said screw (41) and resting on the free end of said lever (32) in the direction opposite said screw (41).

The head (42) of said screw (41) comprises a cut for common screwdrivers that is accessible from outside said containment frame (11) through an opening (12), with a seal (43) to ensure the water tightness of the frame (11) itself.

The pitch of said screw (41) is small, for example, 1 mm or less, so as to allow for very precise adjustment.

Therefore, with reference to the preceeding description and the attached drawing the following claims are made.
