Abstract:
The present invention provides a carrier powder which is capable of improving the cell performance in a high-humidity environment. The present invention provides a supported metal catalyst which comprises a carrier powder and fine metal particles that are supported by the carrier powder, and which is configured such that: the carrier powder is an assembly of fine carrier particles; the fine carrier particles are fine particles of an oxide, and each fine carrier particle has a chain part that is configured by fusion bonding a plurality of crystallites into a chain shape; the crystallites have a size of 10-30 nm; the carrier powder is provided with pores; the pores comprise secondary pores that have a pore diameter of more than 25 nm but 80 nm or less as determined by a BJH method; and the volume of the secondary pores per unit volume of the fine carrier particles that constitute the carrier powder is 0.313 cm3/cm3 or more.
