Description:
"A SUPPORTING DEVICE WITH TRANSPARENT A N D ADJUSTABLE SHELVES FOR BOOKS, NEWSPAPERS AND SIMILAR, FOR READERS WHO ARE NOT IN UPRIGHT POSITION" The present invention concerns an ajustable device for supporting books, newspapers and similar that may be used by readers who are not in an upright position, i. e. lying down or supine, on a bed, a sofa, an armchair or in similar situations.

It is known that those persons who must lie down, feel the need of keeping sometimes heavy books, but also light publications, at the height of their eyes, and this must be done by means of their extroverted arms, which often get stiffened.

It is the aim of the present invention to completely solve above mentioned inconvenience by means of an easy and economical device, with a high functionality.

The aim set forth is reached by means of the device, according to the present invention, based on the brillant new idea of showing the reader who is not in an upright position, in a position incline with respect to his eyes, the pages to be read by means of a transparent supporting shelf, provided with means for adjusting the height and the inclination thereof.

The turning over of the pages remains therefore the sole operation to be performed manually, allowing the new pages to be read through the transparency of the supporting plane.

The present invention will be described more in detail hereinbelow, relating to the enclosed drawing in which an embodiment is shown.

Figure 1 shows an axonometric view of the supporting device with a transparent and ajustable plane for books, newspapers and similar, for readers who are not in an upright position.

Figure 2 shows some adjusting details of the device according to the present invention.

The enclosed figures show a supporting device with a transparent and ajustable shelf for books, newspapers and similar, for readers who are not in an upright position but, e. g., lying down on a bed, comprising: -a supporting base 1 on the floor, on its small wheels 2, that may be moved with respect to the position of the reader who is not in an upright position; -a vertical upright 3, linked to said base 1; -a horizontal rod 4, orthogonal to said upright 3, provided with means 5 for wringing the adjusting of the height with respect to the floor; -a transparent shelf 6 out of plastic material or different, that may be incline and fixed with wringing means 7, like a screw or other, so as to make the pages of a book L or of a newspaper or similar visible through its transparency; -a lower rest 8, on the base of said self 6, for allowing the support of the book or similar to be read.

The functioning of the device according to the present invention is simple and functional: -the reader, who is not in an upright position, i. e. lying down or supine, pulls the base 1 on the small wheels 2 near to him; -he adjusts the height of the book-rest along the vertical upright 3 by means of elements 5; -he adjusts the inclination of the transparent shelf 6 by means of elements 7; -he rests the open book L or newspaper onto the upper part of said shelf 6, so as to keep it by rest 8 and so as to comfortably read the pages through the transparency of the material, without any manual intervention; -he manually turns over the pages, placing back his book L as before.
