Abstract:
In a supporting and tracking device, part of the body of an operator is placed on a placement unit. An arm is provided with two or more joints, and supports the placement unit. Brakes are provided to restrict the movement of each of at least two joints from among the two or more joints. Each brake is a single mechanism that restricts the movement of a single joint. A control unit (S110 to S180, S210 to S280, S310 to S380) controls movement modes of each brake. Then, if part of the body of the operator satisfies a prescribed condition, the control unit sets the movement modes of each brake such that a braking force is generated in at least one of the at least two brakes, and no braking force is generated in at least one of the at least two brakes, excluding the at least one break in which said braking force was generated.
