Abstract:
A surface acoustic wave device comprises a piezoelectric substrate (12) of a rectangular plate shape for propagating a Rayleigh wave; a comb-like electrode (13) provided by forming an interdigital electrode on the piezoelectric substrate, and a reflector (14). The end face of each short side of the piezoelectric substrate at least on the top surface side is generally parallel to a conductor strip provided the end of the reflector (14) in the position of a virtual node (J) of a stress wave (T) generated from the conductor strip and is a vertical smooth surface. As a result, the end faces serve as reflecting end faces (15, 16) reflecting them stress wave.
