Abstract:
In this surface-coated cubic boron nitride sintered compact tool, a hard coating layer comprising an alternating-layer structure of an A layer and a B layer is formed on the surface of a cBN substrate, the cBN substrate (sintered compact) comprises a Ti compound, WC, AlN, TiB2, Al2O3, and cBN, the A layer has the composition (Ti1-xAlx)N (where 0.4 ≤ x ≤ 0.7 by atomic ratio), the B layer has the composition (Cr1-y-zAlyMz)N (where 0.03 ≤ y ≤ 0.4 and 0 ≤ z ≤ 0.05 by atomic ratio), and the plastic deformation work ratio of the B layer is 0.35-0.50.
