Abstract:

This surface-coated cutting tool is provided with a base material, and a coating film formed on the base material, wherein: the coating film includes an α-Al2O3 layer; the α-Al2O3 layer includes a plurality of α-Al2O3 crystal particles and a plurality of k-Al2O3 crystal particles; TC (006) is greater than 5 in terms of orientation index TC (hkl); and the ratio [CK/(Cα+Ck)×100](%) of a total peak count Ck of the k-Al2O3 crystal particles obtained from measurement data of X-ray diffraction performed on the coating film with respect to the sum of the total peak count (CK) and a total peak count (Cα) of the α-Al2O3 crystal particles obtained from the measurement data is 0.05-7%.
