Abstract:
A surface-coated cutting tool which comprises: a substrate that has a rake face and a clearance; and a coating film that covers the surface of the substrate. The substrate is a cBN sintered body or a ceramic sintered body; the coating film contains an alternation layer wherein first layers and second layers having a composition different from that of the first layers are alternately laminated; the first layers contain Al, Cr and N; the second layers contain Ti, Al and N; the ratio of the thickness T1 of the first layers to the thickness T2 of the second layers, namely T1/T2 is 0.1 or more but less than 1; and the number of interfaces where a first layer and a second layer are in contact with each other is 30 or more.
