Abstract:
This surface-coated cutting tool is provided with a hard coating layer, in which: a TiAlCN layer α (1) containing 70 area% or more wurtzite hexagonal crystal structure and a TiAlCN layer β (2) containing 70 area% or more NaCl face-centered cubic structure are layered, one layer each, onto the surface of a tool substrate, on a tool surface side (S) and on a tool substrate side (B), respectively; the composition of the TiAlCN layer α (1) is 0.70 ≤ xα ≤ 0.95 and 0.000 ≤ yα ≤ 0.010, if represented by (Ti(1-xα)Alxα)(CyαN(1-yα)); the composition of the TiAlCN layer β (2) is 0.65 ≤ xβ ≤ 0.95 and 0.000 ≤ yβ ≤ 0.010, if represented by (Ti(1-xβ)Alxβ)(CyβN(1-yβ)); and the TiAlCN layer α (1) and the TiAlCN layer β (2) satisfy 0.5μm≤ Lα ≤ 10.0 μm and 1.0 μm ≤ Lβ ≤ 20.0μm, if Lα and Lβ are the mean layer thickness.
