Abstract:
The present invention provides: an easily manufactured surface-emitting light guide that can be reduced in thickness while increased in terms of the efficiency with which supplied light is used; a method for manufacturing the surface-emitting light guide; a planar light source device; and a transmission-type image display device.
The surface-emitting light guide (18) according to an embodiment is provided with: a light guide body (21) that includes a transparent substrate, the light guide body (21) causing light that has entered from a first side surface (203) that intersects a first main surface (201) to propagate towards a second side surface (204) on the opposite side from the first side surface (203), and emitting planar light in the thickness direction; and a transparent substrate sheet (22) joined on the first side surface (203) side of the first main surface (201).
