Abstract:
A surface modified electrode plate for electrorheological fluid is a metal plate
with a rough, abrasionproof and low-conductivity modified layer. Material
of the modified layer is selected from at least one of the group consisting of diamond,
alumina, titanium oxide, carborundum, titanium nitride, nylon, fluon, adhesives
and film adhesives. The modified layer provides an increase in the cohesive force
between electrorheological fluid and the plate, and the electrorheological
fluid shear stress on the plate is close to its real shear stress. It makes electrorheological
fluid can be used effectively and practically. It can also decrease leakage current
and increase breakdown voltage of ER fluid devices.
