Abstract:
A surface modifier prepared by dispersing a fluoropolymer in a non-fluorinated organic solvent, wherein the fluoropolymer comprises 5 to 100wt% (in terms of polymerization units) of a (meth)acrylic acid derivative of a fluoroalkyl alcohol containing a perfluoroalkyl group having at most 6 carbon atoms, said (meth)acrylic acid derivative being represented by general formula: CnF2n+1(CH2CF2)a(CF2CF2)b(CH2CH2)c OCOCR=CH2 [wherein R is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; n is an integer of 1 to 6; a is an integer of 1 to 4; b is an integer of 1 to 3; and c is an integer of 1 to 3]. Incidentally, a compound containing a perfluoroalkyl group having at most 6 carbon atoms is reputed to be less bioaccumulable. From the standpoints of stability of a polymerization fluid during polymerization, solubility, and polymerization rate, it is preferable that n is an integer of 2 to 4, a is an integer of 1 to 2; b is an integer of 1 to 3; and c is an integer of 1 to 2.
