A surface mountable antenna (101) comprises: a base member (1) having a first main surface (VS1) that is a mounting surface and a second main surface (VS2) that is opposed to the first main surface (VS1); and a helical coil conductor having a winding axis in the direction along the first and second main surfaces (VS1, VS2) and formed on the base member (1). The coil conductor has first-main-surface side conductors (first linear conductor patterns (21A to 21D)) and second-main-surface side conductors (second linear conductor patterns (51A to 51E)). The coil conductor has a portion where when viewed from the second main surface (VS2) at the same position, the length of a formation area of the second-main-surface side conductors (second linear conductor patterns (51A to 51E)) in the winding-axis (AX1) direction is shorter than the length of a formation area of the first-main-surface side conductors (first linear conductor patterns (21A to 21D)) in the winding-axis (AX1) direction.
