Title:
SURFACE PROCESSING METHOD EFFECTIVE IN CONTROLLING CORROSION RATE OF BIODEGRADABLE MAGNESIUM IMPLANT, AND BIODEGRADABLE MAGNESIUM IMPLANT
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/208818
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The surface processing method of the present invention, which is effective in controlling the corrosion rate of a biodegradable magnesium implant, comprises a step of pre-processing an implant material and a step of one- or two-stage anodization using an electrolyte comprising hydrofluoric acid. When the surface processing method according to the present invention is used, it is possible to form an MgF2 coating layer which is dense and yet uniform within a relatively short time, and there is a marked improvement in the corrosion resistance of magnesium implants which has emerged as a major problem in the use of absorbent implant materials, with highly rapid corrodibility within the body, and thus there is a high likelihood of future use as a biodegradable implant.
