Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide calcium carbonate that has a controlled shape and a controlled surface treatment amount and can provide resin compositions each having a low viscosity and high thixotropic properties when the calcium carbonate is added to various resin materials. The present invention provides surface-treated calcium carbonate having such a structure that a surface-treating agent comprising a fatty acid sodium salt or a fatty acid potassium salt is attached onto the surface of calcium carbonate having a primary particle aspect ratio of 2 to 20 when measured with an electron microscope, in which the BET specific surface area of the calcium carbonate is 3 - 13 [m2/g] and the surface coverage ratio of the calcium carbonate with the surface-treating agent per unit BET surface area of the calcium carbonate is 0.15 - 0.60 [%/(m2/g)].
