Abstract:
A surface-treated metal material which has a metal substrate and, formed thereon, an inorganic surface treating layer containing an inorganic component, or further has an organic surface treating layer formed on said inorganic surface treating layer, wherein said inorganic surface treating layer comprises M (where M represents at least one of Ti, Zr and Al), O and F, and said organic surface treating layer comprises a silane coupling agent treating agent having an Si amount of 0.8 to 30 mg/m2 or a phenolic water-soluble organic compound. The above surface-treated metal material is friendly to the environment since it is free of chromium, is applicable to a variety of metal substrates, is excellent in the resistance to discoloration even when applied to a tin-plated steel sheet, and further can be excellent in various characteristics such as the close attachment with an organic resin film, adhesiveness, corrosion resistance, dent resistance and the like. The surface treatment method of the present invention allows the rapid and easy production of the surface-treated metal material at a low cost, due to the cathodic electrolytic treatment from an aqueous solution.
