Abstract:
A powder for use in a cosmetic is provided. Said powder is highly water-repellent; feels smooth, light, and moisturizing; and adheres well to the skin. The use of said powder in a cosmetic provides said cosmetic with a pleasant feel; excellent, long-lasting efficacy; and superb temporal stability. The present invention is a powder for use in a cosmetic, said powder having been surface-treated by a silicone gel. Surface-treating said powder with a silicone gel makes the powder highly water-repellent; produces a smooth, light feel; provides the moisturizing feel characteristic of silicone gels; and makes the powder adhere well to the skin. This powder is preferably either an inorganic powder, an organic powder, or a compound powder consisting of an inorganic powder and an organic powder. Furthermore, the aforementioned silicone gel is preferably obtained by performing a hydrolytic condensation reaction on the diorganopolysiloxane represented by formula (1), both ends of which are reactive, and an organopolysiloxane cross-linker containing one or both of the following: the silane coupling agent represented by formula (2), which has two or more hydrolyzable groups per molecule; and the reactive organopolysiloxane represented by formula (3).
