The present invention addresses the problem of providing a surface-treating agent for aluminum or aluminum alloy materials, whereby it becomes possible to form, on an aluminum or aluminum alloy material, a surface-treated coating film that has excellent corrosion resistance and can have excellent corrosion resistance even when the coating film is exposed to a high temperature. The problem can be solved by a surface-treating agent which can be used for the treatment of a surface of an aluminum or aluminum alloy material and contains (A) an ion containing trivalent chromium, (B) at least one ion selected from an ion containing titanium and an ion containing zirconium, (C) an ion containing zinc, (D) a free fluorine ion (D), and (E) a nitrate ion.
