Abstract:
Provided are: a surface treatment agent which is used to pretreat a metal base when forming a patterned coating film by ink jet, enabling the drawing of an unblurred, high-definition patterned coating film; and a method for forming the patterned coating film. The surface treatment agent for a metal base is used on a metal base before forming the patterned coating film by applying ink by ink jet. This surface treatment agent for a metal base comprises a composition that contains an acid, water, and at least one of a cationic surfactant and an amphoteric surfactant.
