Provided is a novel surface treatment agent for an optical member, including a fluoropolyether group-containing silicone compound indicated by general formula (I), that is water-repellant, oil-repellant, and stain resistant, and is capable of forming a layer having high surface lubricity. (In the formula: R1-R7 each independently indicate an alkyl group or an aryl group; Rf is a fluoropolyether group; X is a divalent organic group; a is 1-10,000; b is 0-100; the order for each repeating unit in parentheses is arbitrary in the formula and Y1 and Y2 are hydroxyl groups or hydrolyzable groups, when b is not 0; and, when b is 0, Y1 is a group indicated by Rf-X- and Y2 is a hydroxyl group or a hydrolyzable group.)
