Abstract:
Provided are: a surface treatment liquid in which a hydrophylization effect does not readily decline over time, even when a surface-treated article is exposed to various chemicals; and a hydrophilization treatment method in which the surface treatment liquid is used. The surface treatment liquid contains a resin (A) and a solvent (S). The resin (A) contains structural units (a1) derived from a betaine monomer that has a group having an ethylenically unsaturated double bond, a cationic group, and an anionic group, the betaine monomer not including an ester bond or an amide bond. The cationic group is preferably a quaternary nitrogen cation group, and the anionic group is preferably a sulfonate anion group, a phosphonate anion group, or a carboxylate anion group.
