Abstract:
Disclosed in the present invention are a surface treatment method for an ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber and application of the treated fiber, the surface energy of the ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber being more than 72 mN/m. The preparation method is characterized in that a polar functional group is introduced into the surface of an ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber by using a method which combines chemistry and physics. Because of the introduction of the polar functional group, the surface energy of the fiber is obviously improved, the recombination performance thereof with other materials is obviously improved, and the tensile strength, tear strength and bursting strength of products containing the ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber are high. Therefore, the ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber may be widely used for preparing films, composite materials or fabrics, and may be applied to soft composite fabrics such as in gas film buildings, air bags, airships, radar covers, protective textiles and tents, and hard structural materials such as in helmets, clubs/rackets and vehicle shells.
